First get the back size correct!

Back too big?Back too big?

  • Are your breasts weighing you down?
  • Your bra straps digging in?
  • The bra back riding up?
  • If so then you need to try a smaller back size...

When the back size of the bra (eg the 36 part of the 36C size) fits correctly then the weight of the breasts is supported by the whole bra, including the panels at the sides of the bra.

If the back size is too big then the weight of the breasts is only supported by the shoulder straps, causing them to dig in and put strain on your shoulders.

By going down a back size, eg from 36 to 34 the amount of support your bra gives you will be increased.

You will though need to go up at least one cup size to compensate, as going down a back size also decreases the cup size. So if you were wearing a 36C which was too big in the back, but which fitted in the cup, then you would need to try a 34D.

It doesn't mean your bust is bigger - just that your bra will now fit better!
